Dr. Charles Lee
Dr. Charles Lee is one of the few political prisoners tortured in Chinese prisons who survived to tell about it. He was born and raised in China. After receiving a medical degree, he came to the US for graduate study at the University of Illinois. He graduated in 1995 with a Master’s degree in Physiology and went to Harvard to do research. In 2003, he returned to China to protest the harsh persecution of a a spiritual movement called Falun Gong. He was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison where he was beaten and brutally tortured. He was released in 2006 and returned to San Francisco. Since then, he has been tireless in warning Americans against thinking that China ever will be wooed from Communism by trade and aid.
